What do we want?I trust I don’t have to explain the part about being all outta gum. [06:34 PM]
Gradual change! When do we want it?
In due course!
You might have to explain the bit with the gum too-- not everybody has seen They Live.
I trust I don't have to explain the part about being all outta gum.
I'm sorry, I'm afraid you do. Or at least I' like you to.

Posted too soon. Meant to add
But I did get the part about the Fabian football cheer. I've always liked it.

Hurl that spheroid down the field!
(What would the Fabian Football Cheerleaders squad...er...well, let's not go there... )
Thanks, Patrick, for pointing out a banner I can rally to (at all deliberate speed). And sign me up for one of those buttons when you find them -- though I expect I'll get tired of explaining what "meliorist" means to the people around me, who apparently aren't even familiar with "canonical". ("He mispronounced quite common words: urticate, salpinx, bordereau.")
On a side note, I'd like to recommend Eric Hobsbawm's Revolutionaries (available from the New Press) to anyone interested in hearing just how far back the debate between us meliorists and people like Mr. Greider goes, from a smart, self-critical, compassionate but unashamedly Marxist historian who's had the good fortune to live through the last half of the intellectual history of the Left.
Surely everybody who reads this knows that Nancybuttons.com does reasonably priced custom work and must have some personal reason not to own every button they ever wanted?
Thanks, Clark, I knew there had to be one out there somewhere.
