While I’m at it. If you read lots of weblogs, you’ve seen this linked already. If you’re one of my readers who doesn’t, well, go read it. Fareed Zakaria is no leftist and no dove, but writing in this week’s Newsweek, he presents a pitiless survey of the hole we’ve dug ourselves. Essential.

Mr. Zakaria has nailed it. I gave up on Newsweek years ago. Maybe I should start reading it again. Or is this an exceptional case?

It was a good piece. Humbling and informative. Meanwhile, I think Michael Barone offers a good countercase (at least in terms of building to the Iraq war).

Hmm. I think Barone’s article is a great example of exactly the kind of rhetoric that he claims didn’t get us into this mess.
