    Notes:

    Graduated Harvard, 1653; preached several years in Salem, Massachusetts; removed, in 1660, to Hartford, Connecticut, where he was ordained over the First Church. In 1670 a second church was formed at Hartford, of which he was chosen pastor.

    Not to be confused with John Whiting (d. 1690), son of Samuel Whiting of Lynn.

    John married Sibyl Collins about 1654 in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Sibyl (daughter of Deacon Edward Collins and Martha Baylie) was born in 1634 in England; died on 3 Jun 1672 in Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
