    Notes:

He and his wife Eleanor Sears were fourth cousins, both being great-great-great grandchildren of Constant Southworth and Elizabeth Collier.

Richmond married Eleanor Sears on 22 Dec 1799 in Bristol, Ontario, New York. Eleanor (daughter of Alden Sears and Phoebe Walker) was born on 1 May 1780 in Dighton, Bristol, Massachusetts; died on 7 Oct 1866 in Bristol, Ontario, New York; was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Bristol Center, Ontario, New York. [Group Sheet]

  2. 13.  Eleanor SearsEleanor Sears was born on 1 May 1780 in Dighton, Bristol, Massachusetts (daughter of Alden Sears and Phoebe Walker); died on 7 Oct 1866 in Bristol, Ontario, New York; was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Bristol Center, Ontario, New York.
    Children:
    1. 6. Richmond Simmons was born on 11 Jun 1806 in East Bloomfield, Ontario, New York; died on 11 Feb 1862 in East Bloomfield, Ontario, New York; was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Bristol Center, Ontario, New York.

  3. 14.  Benjamin Daggett Wheeler was born on 10 Apr 1789 in Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts (son of Benjamin Wheeler and Celia Buffington); died on 30 Sep 1818 in East Bloomfield, Ontario, New York; was buried in Wheeler Cemetery, East Bloomfield, Ontario, New York.

    Notes:

"Benjamin D., son of Benjamin and Celia (Buffington) Wheeler, was born in Massachusetts, April 10, 1789, died September 30, 1818. He removed from his native state to New York state, settling in East Bloomfield, where he was a prominent citizen, advancing the interests of the community in which he resided. He married Deborah Reed, and they were the parents of five children, two sons and three daughters, Hannah R., Deborah, Celia B., Benjamin T., and Simeon R." [A History of Ontario County, New York, and Its People, citation details below.]

Albert Gallatin Wheeler's Genealogical and Encyclopedic History of the Wheeler Family in America gives Benjamin Daggett Wheeler as a son of Barnard Wheeler and Anna Goff. This is clearly a mistake:

    * Benjamin Daggett Wheeler's tombstone clearly reads "son of Benjamin and Celia Wheeler."

    * The mother of the Benjamin Wheeler who married Celia Buffington was named Hopestill Daggett.

    * The first son named in the will, made 23 Jul 1832, of the Benjamin Wheeler who married Celia Buffington, is "Benjamin D."

Benjamin married Deborah Reed about 1809 in East Bloomfield, Ontario, New York. Deborah was born about 1791 in Massachusetts; died on 2 Jun 1860 in East Bloomfield, Ontario, New York; was buried in Wheeler Cemetery, East Bloomfield, Ontario, New York. [Group Sheet]

  4. 15.  Deborah Reed was born about 1791 in Massachusetts; died on 2 Jun 1860 in East Bloomfield, Ontario, New York; was buried in Wheeler Cemetery, East Bloomfield, Ontario, New York.

    Other Events:

    • Alternate death: 1878

    Notes:

Her tombstone is in Wheeler Cemetery in East Bloomfield, but she is also listed on the tombstone of her second husband John Pool in Lakeview Cemetery in the same county.

Although both the 1893 History of Ontario County, New York and the generally-meticulous Harriette M. Wheeler (citation details for both below) say that she died in 1878, her ornate tombstone clearly reads:

    DEBORAH
    WIFE OF
    JOHN POOL
    Relict of
    Benjamin D. Wheeler
    DIED
    June 2, 1860
    Aged 69 Years

It's tempting to identify her as the Deborah Reed who was born 12 Mar 1793 in Dighton, Massachusetts to Simeon Reed and Hannah Wheeler (!), but we're unaware of any proof. Were this the case, and if the Hannah Wheeler in question was the Hannah Wheeler recorded by History of the Wheeler Family in America (citation details below) as a daughter of Jonathan Wheeler (b. 1735) and Patience Cole, then Deborah Reed and Benjamin Daggett Wheeler would have been second cousins, both being great-grandchildren of Philip Wheeler and Martha Salisbury.

Another possibility is that she was the Deborah Reed born 30 May 1790 in Middleborough, Massachusetts, daughter of Joshua Reed.

    Children:
    1. 7. Hannah R. Wheeler was born on 17 Nov 1810; died on 17 May 1908 in Bristol, Ontario, New York; was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Bristol Center, Ontario, New York.
