According to The Complete Peerage (7:587), he was possibly a son of Arkil, son of Ecgfrith, and Arkil's wife Sigrid, a granddaughter of Aldun, Bishop of Lindisfarne. When the Danish fleet came up the Humber to York in 1069, many English joined them, including Arkil; in 1070, after this act of rebellion, he fled.Children:
