  1. 2.  Reuben French Ring was born 8 Oct 1772, Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts (son of David Ring and Molle Hadlock).

    Notes:

The record of his birth in Massachusetts Town and Vital Records spells his first name "Ruben." The same source gives "Reuben" as the spelling for his son Reuben French Ring (b. 22 Jan 1801).

Reuben married Anna. Anna died , Brooklyn, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania; was buried , Old Cemetery, Brooklyn, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. [Group Sheet]

  2. 3.  Anna died , Brooklyn, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania; was buried , Old Cemetery, Brooklyn, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.

    Notes:

According to A History of Brooklyn, Susquehanna Co., Penn'a (citation details below), she was "a sister of Mrs. Jacob Tewksbury", presumably referring to Molly Wainwright, wife of Jacob Tewksbury b. 1767.

Generation: 3

  1. 4.  David Ring (son of Capt. David Ring and Tirzah Sawyer).

    Notes:

"The old Ring homestead in Mass., once owned by [the grandfather of Reuben French Ring b. 1801] was sold to Daniel Webster and became a part of the Marshfield estate." [A History of Brooklyn, Susquehanna Co., Penn'a: Its Homes and Its People by E. A. Weston. Brooklyn, Pennsylvania: W. A. Squier, 1889.]

David married Molle Hadlock Aft 13 Oct 1770, Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts. Molle (daughter of James Hadlock and Hannah Hoyt) was born , of South Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire. [Group Sheet]

  2. 5.  Molle Hadlock was born , of South Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire (daughter of James Hadlock and Hannah Hoyt).

    Notes:

    Also called Mary Hadlock.

We can't find an official record that confirms that Molle/Molly/Mary Hadlock, who is recorded as having married David Ring in 1770, was in fact the daughter of James Hadlock and Hannah Hoyt. This connection is asserted by innumerable unsourced online trees, without documentary proof.

However, Probate Records of the Providence of New Hampshire, volume 3, ed. Henry Harrison Metcalf (Concord, New Hampshire: The Rumford Press, 1915), available on Google Books, records the grant of administration of the estate of Thomas Hoyt of Amesbury, Mass. to his widow Ruth of 31 Aug 1748. The fourth share is assigned to "James Hadlock in the right of his wife, Hannah Hadlock, oldest daughter". Among the witnesses to this (shown as "Comite") are "Reuben Dimond" and "Joseph French". Molle Hadlock had a son named Reuben (or Ruben) French Ring; and he had a son of the same name.

    Children:
    1. 2. Reuben French Ring was born 8 Oct 1772, Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts.

Generation: 4

  1. 8.  Capt. David Ring was born 24 Nov 1693, of Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts (son of Jarvis Ring and Hannah Fowler); died 3 Apr 1752.

Capt. married Tirzah Sawyer 2 Nov 1749, Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts. Tirzah (daughter of Josiah Sawyer and Tirzah Bartlett) was born 7 Nov 1713, Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts; died 3 Jun 1782, South Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire. [Group Sheet]

  2. 9.  Tirzah Sawyer was born 7 Nov 1713, Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts (daughter of Josiah Sawyer and Tirzah Bartlett); died 3 Jun 1782, South Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire.

    Notes:

Supposedly she died within two hours of her second husband, Rueben French, but sources differ as to where -- Sawyer Families of New England 1636-1900 by Eleanor Grace Sawyer (1995) says she died in Newbury, Massachusetts.

    Notes:

Intentions published 6 Oct 1749. [Vital Records of Salisbury, Massachusetts: To the End of the Year 1849, citation details below]

    Notes:

Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury (citation details below) says "He served at Louisburg, 1745, with other Ames. men." Presumably this is the Siege of Louisbourg, when "a New England colonial force aided by a British fleet captured Louisbourg, the capital of the French province of Île-Royale (present-day Cape Breton Island) during the War of the Austrian Succession, known as King George's War in the British colonies."
