| A Remnant of Old Briggate From "martin2311" on ancestry.com:
This postcard, entitled 'A Remnant of Old Briggate', shows no. 56, one of the oldest buildings on Briggate. It was built in 1613 by Richard Sykes, who became an Alderman of Leeds in 1629, having been a key figure in the campaign for the granting of Leeds' Charter of Incorporation in 1626. The building is occupied here by F. Wallis, hosier and glover; the words 'Ye Olde Stone Shoppe' are seen above the name, and a panel above this says 'RS1613'. It was taken over by Timpsons's Shoes in 1919 and demolished by them in 1955 to make way for a new shop. The entrance to the Pack Horse Inn Yard is incoporated into the building on the left.

| barbara phelps - granny band "Barbara Phelps (later Allen) arrived in Mesa in 1879 and a 16-month-old infant. At age 12, she received an accordion for Christmas. She then earned money by playing with her father, Hyrum Phelps, for dances in Lehi, especially at Christmas. In later life, she organized the Granny Band, which performed at events around town. From left to right are Deborah Nelson, Julia Watkins, unidentified, Barbara Allen, unidentified, Lora Hancock, and Lizzie Rust." [Images of America: Latter-Day Saints in Mesa by D. L. | Flushing Remonstrance Signature page of the Flushing Remonstrance. William Thorne signed near the top, writing only "Thorne" in Elizabethan script. Edward Heart, the town clerk, wrote in "William" before his name and "seignior" after it. The next line, also mostly in Heart's hand, reads "The mark of [mark] William Thorne Junior."

| Linda Reno column about Basil Hayden, Henrietta Cole, Charles Ewing, and William Leo Hayden A good write-up in the St. Mary's County Times, incorrect in only some minor particulars:
Although a distiller, Basil Hayden didn't create Old Grand-Dad; that brand was devised by his grandson Raymond B. Hayden, who put what was alleged to be his grandfather's face on the bottle.
Mary Hayden was a granddaughter, not a daughter, of William Hayden and Elizabeth Thompson.
And we're pretty sure that the nickname "Little Willie" wasn't from the childhood of William Leo Hayden; rather, according to family lore taken by PNH's mother from his grandfather James Delbert Hayden, William Leo was called "Little Willie" in his adulthood to distinguish him from the other William Hayden in Daviess County at the time, his second cousin once removed William "Big Willie" Hayden (1794-1851). In his childhood, William Leo Hayden's nickname was, appallingly enough, simply "Not Blood."

| Robert Cole's World: Agriculture & Society in Early Maryland. By Lois Green Carr, Russell R. Menard, and Lorena Walsh. Chapel Hill, NC: University of North Carolina Press, 1991.
Book description from Amazon.com:
In 1652 Robert Cole, an English Catholic, moved with his family and servants to St. Mary's County, Maryland. Using this family's story as a case study, the authors of Robert Cole's World provide an intimate portrait of the social and economic life of a middling planter in the seventeenth-century Chesapeake, including work routines and agricultural techniques, the upbringing of children, neighborhood relationships and community formation, and the role of religion.
The Cole Plantation account, a record that details what the plantation produced, consumed, purchased, and sold over a twelve-year period, is the only known surviving document of its kind for seventeenth-century British America. Along with Cole's will, it serves as the framework around which the authors build their analysis. Drawing on these and other records, they present Cole as an exemplar of the ordinary planter whose success created the capital base for the slave-based plantation society of the eighteenth century.

| Signature page of the Flushing Remonstrance. William Thorne signed near the top, writing only "Thorne" in Elizabethan script. Edward Heart, the town clerk, wrote in "William" before his name and "seignior" after it. The next line, also mostly in Heart's hand, reads "The mark of [mark] William Thorne Junior."

| TNH at the Mead memorial stone TNH, 22 May 2020 (thus the pandemic facemask), at the Mead memorial stone at Tomac Cemetery, Old Greenwich, Connecticut. The only correct date on this stone is that of William Mead's arrival in the New World, 1635. Of course the heraldry is entirely fanciful; the Mead family was not armigerous.
