Notes - The tombstone at Santa Barbara depicted on his findagrave.com page says "RICHARD THORN / DIED / JUNE 1883 / AGED 97 YEARS." Which if correct, and if this is our Richard Thorn's grave, would mean he was born in 1776, not 1786. On the other hand, his age could well have been exaggerated at his death.
