  Not a daughter of Nicholas and Dorothy (Pendleton) Cottrell as widely shown online and elsewhere. Nicholas and Dorothy's daughter Mary, who died 2 Dec 1735, married on 16 Dec 1730, as his first wife, Nathan Randall. John and Elizabeth Cottrell had a daughter Mary and a son Nathaniel, and the will of Eber Crandall identifies a Nathaniel Cottrell as "brother-in-law."
