  • Notes
    • She may be the Mary Penberthy baptized at St. Ives on 3 Jun 1754, daughter of John and Margery Penberthy. This is obviously an acceptable fit for the Mary Penberthy who married James Penberthy (bapt. 1755) in 1783.

A Mary Penberthy married Thomas Champion at St. Ives on 21 May 1775, and Mary Champion was buried at St. Ives on 2 Dec 1818, age 65, suggesting that perhaps the Mary Penberthy baptized in 1754 was Thomas Champion's wife, not James Penberthy's. But another Mary Penberthy was baptized at St. Ives on 1 Jan 1753, daughter of Simon and Mary, making this Mary Penberthy 65 years and 11 months old in December 1818. We think this latter one was Thomas Champion's wife and that the 3 Jun 1754 baptism pertains to the wife of James Penberthy.
