  • Notes
    • The Derby Genealogy (citation details below) lists her only as Hannah, no maiden name or parents given. Many online sites claim she was Hannah Butterick, daughter of John Butterick and his wife Mary, but without proof. It would seem they are probably correct.

The published vital records of Harvard, Worcester County, Massachusetts list her death as Hannah Daby, "w. of John, Nov. 17, 1744, a. 58 y. 5 m. G.R.I.", that last abbreviation indicating that this record came from a grave record in Harvard's Old Cemetery.

The published vital records of Stow show the birth of a Hannah Butterick, "d. John and Mary, June 6, [16]85." June 1685 is 59 years and five months before November 1744. It is easy to believe that a gravestone inscription was off by a year, whether because the stonecutter erred, the next of kin were mistaken, or the person being buried had quietly trimmed a year off their declared age over the course of a lifetime.

Finally, the will of John Butterick of Stow, made in Jun 1717, mentions his daughter Hannah, wife of John Daby.
