Notes - "Benjamin Wallingford, the twelfth child and the youngest son of Nicholas, the immigrant, like his father became a Master Mariner and for some time followed the shipping trade. Evidently, he grew tired of the sea for in 1708, he purchased a tract of land in Prince George's County, Maryland. This tract consisting of two hundred fifty acres lay along the Potomac River and it was known as Wallingford's Purchase." [Henry Beckett, citation details below.]
