  "Their son James Babcock (b. 1663) had son: Dr. Joshua Babcock, b. 1707, served as speaker of R. I. legislature, chief justice R. I. Supreme Court, and major general of militia. His son: Henry Babcock (1736-1800), graduated from Yale at 16 (1752), entered army, became captain at 18, major at 20, lieut. colonel at 21, and colonel at 22; commanded all troops at Newport, R.
