    • He was not, as reported in some sources, a son or grandson of William Bacon of Stretton in Rutland county, England. He was, according to Donald Lines Jacobus (citation details below), a "nephew of Andrew Bacon, an original proprietor of Hartford, who married Elizabeth, widow of Timothy Stanley, and in 1660 moved to Hadley, Mass., where he died without issue, 4 Oct. 1669."
