Notes - With his father, he took up arms against the king at Boroughbridge, 16 Mar 1322. He married Elizabeth Comyn clandestinely. He was summoned to Parliament 27 Jan 1332 by writ directed Ricardo Talbot. Against the king's orders, he joined Edward de Balliol in his August 1332 invasion of Scotland. In September 1334 he was taken prisoner by the Scots, but was ransomed and returned to England. On 21 Dec 1337 he was justiciar of the lands in Scotland occupied by the king of England. Steward of the King's Household, May 1345. He was with the king at Crécy and at the siege of Calais.
