  • Notes
    • One of JTS's eleven proven "gateway ancestors."

She was a brave woman. "At Boston, 16 Sept. 1658 the hangman cut off the right ear of Katherine Scott's future son-in-law Christopher Holder (who came from England two years before) for the crime of being a Quaker. Remonstrating against this barbarity, she was thrown into prison and later publicly flogged 'ten cruel stripes with a three-fold corded knotted whip.'" [Collected Papers: Armorial, Genealogical, Historical, citation details below.]

She appears to have returned very briefly to England in 1659-60.
