• Notes

  Knight of the King's Bodyguard. Sheriff of Kent 1487-88. Knight of the shire for Kent. Richardson (citation details below) gives a date for the marriage of this Henry Ferrers to Margaret Hexdale of before 30 Sep 1481, when a grant of land in Kent on that date refers to Henry and Margaret as husband and wife. But another recorded grant of the manor of Hamyldon (Hambleton) to Henry and his wife is dated 14 Nov 1468, and a marriage date shortly before that fits much more tidily with Henry's i.p.m. on 17 Oct 1503, in which his and Margaret's son Edward is said to be "age 30 or more".
