  • Notes
    • Came in 1632 on the Lyon. First at Cambridge, then to Hartford in 1636. An original proprietor of Hartford, he was among the "Adventurers Party" of twenty-five men led by John Steele who scouted area that would become Hartford in October 1635, before the Rev. Hooker's party departed Cambridge in May 1636. His name is on the Founders Monument in downtown Hartford.

The research into his English origins that was published in Genealogy of the Olmsted Family in America (citation details below) was supervised by his descendant Frederick Law Olmsted.
