• Notes

  Also called Gonario de Lacon-Gunale. For notable early events in his life, see the entry for his father-in-law. Went to Jerusalem as a pilgrim with the Second Crusade in 1147; on his return journal, in 1149, he met St. Bernard of Clairvaux, with whom he founded the Cistercian abbey of Cabuabbas di Sindia.
