• Notes

  The 1881 census of Canada calls her "race" and her nationality "German", but says she was born in Nova Scotia. This is further evidence that her grandparents John B. Acker and Ester Crank were of New Amsterdam Dutch descent. Rachel Rowland Acker and her husband John James Acker were double first cousins, both being grandchildren of John B.
