• Notes

  Possibly born as early as 1668. Possibly a son of Thomas Butler (d. bef. 27 Jan 1677, Westmoreland County, Virginia) and Jane Baldridge, daughter of James and Dorothy Baldridge. Certainly his descendants include a large number of men named Christopher, just as the proven descendants of Thomas and Jane do. However, if so, and if he really was married to a daughter of Edward Thompson by Joan, widow of that Thomas Butler's father -- as claimed by Judge Edward F. Butler (citation details below) and shown here -- he would have been married to his half-aunt.
