• Notes

  Also called Pieter Claesz; Pieter Nicolaussen van Nordinge. He arrived at Fort Orange 7 Apr 1637, on the Rensselaerswyck, which sailed from Amsterdam 25 Sep 1636, anchored off the Texel 8 Oct 1636, and reached New Amsterdam 13 Mar 1637. He was traveling as a servant of one Symon Walichsz. He appears to have fulfilled the terms of his service by about 1644, and married shortly thereafter. For a time he farmed with his father-in-law in the Fort Orange area, and he probably moved directly to New Amersfoort, on Long Island, in 1649. He was a schepen, magistrate, of New Amersfoort in 1655, 1662, and 1663.
