Notes - Also called Joan Daundeley, etc. She was heiress to Philip D'Aundeley of Chilton Candover who died about 1372, at which point Chilton Candover and other D'Aundeley manors were settled on Nicholas de Baynton, lord of Falstone. What is unknown is whether she was Philip's daughter. his sister.
Richardson (citation details below) calls the Joan who was mother of the Nicholas de Baynton born about 1381 "Joan (probably d'Aundeley)". It is possible that Nicholas b. 1381 was the son of a Nicholas who was the son of this Joan and her husband Nicholas. See our page for Walter Goodwin Davis's suspicion that Nicholas Baynton (1334-1411) might actually have been two Nicholases, father and son.
