    • Some sources, notably Abandoning America (citation details below) call her Joanna Houghton, presumably because London financier brewer Robert Houghton was on occasion called Robert Sedgwick's brother-in-law. But in 1916, Edward Leodore Smith (citation details below) demonstrated very clearly, with the wills of William and Dorothy Blame of Andover, Southhampton, and with excerpts from the published records of Boston court recorder William Aspinwall, that she was a daughter of William and Dorothy Blake of Andover, Southampton.
