    • He was a ship's carpenter.

      One of the nine founding settlers of Newport, Rhode Island. "On 28 April 1639, he and eight others signed a compact, and soon established the town of Newport at the southern end of Aquidneck Island." [Wikipedia]

      Contrary to several reports, he was almost certainly not the same man as the Thomas Hazard who appears in records of Newtown, Long Island from 1652 to 1656.
