  • Notes
    • He was a shipwright. That he was the Mark Hunking baptized in Saltash, Cornwall in 1615 is given by the 1939 Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire (citation details below) as "presumed", but in 1998 John C. Brandon published evidence from an incident in Cornwall in 1635 that suggests even more strongly that early New Hampshire settlers Mark Hunking and his brother Hercules Hunking were the same individuals as the two brothers baptized in Saltash. See John C. Brandon, "Four Early Immigrants to Maine and New Hampshire: Hercules Hunking, Arthur Gill, Sampson Penley, and Thomas Stanford." The American Genealogist 73:223, 1998.
