- He is said to have emigrated with his wife and two servants to Maryland prior to June 1651. His plantation "Welshpool" (sometimes called "Welch Poole") was on the Patuxent River.
On 21 Nov 1717, Samuel Griffith's will was contested by his son-in-law John Giles, who asserted that it had been dictated by Samuel's wife Elizabeth in order to override Samuel's previous will to the detriment of children other than Samuel Jr.

To son Samuel Griffith dwelling plantation including all land and buildings
