Notes - He settled at Roxbury about 1637-38 and was admitted a freeman there 2 May 1638. He and his first wife were members of the Rev. John Eliot's church there. He signed a covenant dated 31 Aug 1645 to assist in establishing a free school there. The school still exists, today called the Roxbury Latin School.
He was probably a son of Robert Howe of Hatfield Broad Oak, Essex, and almost certainly a brother of James How of Ipswich, Massachusetts.
