"Sir Thomas Boyd of Kilmarnock, eldest son of the preceding, had a grant from King David II of the forfeiture of William Carpentar, and afterwards accompanied that monarch to the battle of Neville's Cross, near Durham, 17 October 1346, where he was taken prisoner."
