  He was admitted as vicar of Oakley, near Bedford. sometime in the twelve-month period prior to 1 May 1588. One of the men named overseer in his will was the Rev. Edward Bulkeley (1540-1621), ancestor of TNH, JTS, TSW, and TWK. It is clear that he was not of Oakley in his origins.
