  The 1860 census shows her, age 1, born in Indiana, with her family in Americus, Breckenridge County, Kansas. Given her family links to abolitionist Quakers we're pretty sure which side of the "Bleeding Kansas" war this family was on. She and her husband were second cousins once removed; he was a great-grandson, and she was a great-great granddaughter, of Isaac Hammer and Lydia Mendenhall.
