Notes - Said to have been a son of Johan Daniel Wolff and Magdalena Lewis. A Find a Grave page exists for a "John Daniel Wolf", depicting a grave for a John D. Wolf that shows a birth date of 1 Apr 1787 and a death date of 15 Nov 1866; the page itself asserts that these events took place in North Carolina and Vinton County, Ohio, respectively, and it identifies this John D. Wolf with our Daniel Wolfe, husband of Joannah Bench. It also links to another Find a Grave page showing a grave for a "Joanna, wife of J. D. Wolf". We are unconvinced that these graves are those of Daniel Wolfe and Joanna Bench (or Bence), parents of Frederick Wolfe. The father of Frederick Wolfe called himself only Daniel Wolfe in his will; it would be odd, given that, for him to be buried as "John D. Wolfe."
He came with his family to Ohio in 1825, settling what was then Ross County and later became Vinton.
