      "He was a resident of Rockingham, Vermont when he enlisted in the U.S. Army on 1 March 1862 as a private in Company K, 4th Vermont Regiment. He was wounded and taken prisoner at the battle of White Oak Swamp,in Henrico County, Virginia, on 30 June 1862; this was part of the Seven Days Battles (Peninsula Campaign) of the American Civil War. He became ill and was paroled 25 July 1862, and died 10 August 1862 of disease contracted while serving in the U. S. Army." [Find a Grave page for Haskell F. Hartwell]
