Notes - Also called William de Cheyney.
He served in France and against the Scots under Edward I. Later, in the reign of Edward II, he opposed Piers de Gaveston, and then Hugh le Despenser, and fought against the King's forces at the battle of Boroughbridge. He is said to have been hanged at York or Pontefract following that battle.
