  She is said by several online sources, without evidence, to have been a daughter of Benoni Brown and Catherine Lane. Notably, the record of her marriage to Edmund Chisman shows that the marriage bond was posted by the bridegroom and a man named Samuel Lane -- perhaps her grandfather, or an uncle? Indiana marriage records show an "Edmond Cheesman" marrying an Abigail Cozine on 23 Dec 1827, no location more precise than "Indiana". This may be our Edmund Chisman, in which case Martha Brown would have to have been dead by this date.
