  "He purchased land in Canterbury, Conn., and he probably moved there about that time. He made a nuncupative Will, and son Noah was appointed Admin., Sep. 11, 1739." [Genealogies of the Families and Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown, citation details below] "They moved to Canterbury, CT where he purchased land, 8 Nov 1708. He and Benoni Woodward are listed as first settlers of the vicinity, 1704-1708. In 1711, he signed a covenant, recognized as one of 'seven pillars' or constituent members of the church which was constituted, 13 Jun 1711. Canterbury First Congregational Church records show he was christened that same date."
