  • Notes 
    • He is said to have been a soldier in the Revolution, present at the battle of Concord, but we've found no evidence for this. This probably reflects confusion with his son and namesake who did in fact serve briefly on the Massachusetts line.

      We also see no evidence that, as claimed on his Find a Grave page, he was named "Ephraim Oliver Wheeler." Middle names were very uncommon in 18th-century New England.
