Notes - He is said on the Sons of the American Revolution application by his descendant Willis Spaulding to have served in the Revolution at the battle of Lexington, and to have been a private enlisted at Plainfield, Connecticut for eight days. We find this doubtful on chronological grounds. The Spaulding Heritage (citation details below) more plausibly asserts that he “served in the French War, and was present at the taking of Quebec by Gen. Wolfe.” The same source asserts that his sons Isaac and Daniel fought in the Revolution.
