  • Notes
    • "Reune Runyon was a Tory and fought for the King during the Revolutionary War. He died 'behind the enemy's lines' in New Jersey ca 1776. It is said that his sons crossed the enemy lines to bring his body home. Reune had been active in patriot pohtics, but changed his support to the Loyalists sometime in 1776. Inquisitions were found against him in Middlesex County for joining the army of the King of Great Britian, to be held at the Court of Common Pleas in the town of New Brunswick, Aug. 15, 1778. Reune, probably after joining the King's army, and in anticipation of his death during the war, made his will 14 Nov 1776." [Howard E. Bonham, citation details below]
