  • Notes
    • Sometimes spelled Whitacar.

Mildred Boddy Reed's memoir of her grandmother Lucinda Biggs Sarvis says that he was a son of Nathaniel Whitaker, son of Richard Whitaker, but the New Jersey record of his birth pretty unambiguously names Ambrose's parents as Richard and Mary Whitaker.

The abstract of his will in New Jersey records calls him "of Upper Alloways Creek Township, Salem County."
