Notes - He arrived in New Orleans in 1808 or 1809. He and his brother Jean Baptiste Bozant fought together in the Battle of New Orleans as members of Plauche's Battalion in the carabiner company.
He was a wealthy man, owner of a successful beef and pork inspection business.
After the 1833 death of his wife Josephine Castrée, Jean Bozant began an "extralegal" relationship with a 22-year-old Black woman named Eugenia LeBlond, with whom he had three further children. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plaçage.
His death was followed by lengthy battles over his estate between children both of his wife and of Eugenia LeBlond.
