    • Freeman of Stamford in 1662; representative to the general court, 1667.

      He was one of the grand jurors who, in September 1692, attempted to judicially murder Mercy (Nichols) (Holbridge) Disborough for the imaginary crime of "witchcraft." She was reprieved. Among those who argued her innocence was TSW ancestor (and TNH first cousin 12 times removed) the Rev. Gershom Bulkeley, who maintained, quite correctly, that she was simply a victim of her neighbors' malice.
