  • Notes
    • The ancestry shown here for Anthony Irby is sourced to "Among the Royal Servants: Welby, Browne, Quarles and Related Families" by David H. Kelley, Don C. Stone, and David C. Dearborn, in Foundations, journal of the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy, volume 3, number 4, July 2010. Kay Allen has opined (on SGM, 16 Feb 1999) that no primary evidence exists for this; that Anthony Irby was "a 'new man' of the Tudors, and as such, was given an 'old' pedigree by the heralds. It is very likely that he comes from a family of prosperous yeoman sheep farmers around Swineshead."
