    • Mary Lovering Holman (citation details below) and Carl Boyer III (citation details below) notwithstanding, no actual record exists of the marriage of a John Emery to an Agnes Northend on 27 Oct 1597 at Romsey, Hampshire -- or, indeed, to an Agnes of any surname. On 22 Oct 1597 a Thomas Emery married a Thomasine Carter at Rowley, Yorkshire, which may be an element of the confusion which has yielded this widely-duplicated genealogical hallucination.
