  "He attended the University of Notre Dame where he received his A.B. Degree in 1898 and his LLB. in 1900, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and was valedictorian of his class. On his return to Springfield, Kentucky he practiced law in the office of his uncle Thomas Simms. […] Thomas Aquinas Medley was always interested in family history and was one of the first to start a compilation of the Medley family. In 1904 he moved to Owensboro to become secretary and treasurer of the Daviess County Distilling Company and then from 1910 until 1938 he was the President."
