• Notes

  He emigrated to New England at age 17 in 1635 with his father, his stepmother Lydia, and several siblings and half-siblings. The family settled in Watertown and Cambridge. He moved to Newbury by 1939, then Sudbury and what later became Framingham. In 1672, following his father's death, he returned to Cambridge to inherit his property. In Sudbury he was a deacon of the town church. In Cambridge, on 15 Nov 1682, he was made the church's ruling elder. He held various public offices and responsibilities throughout his life, and his final two years he was deputy for Cambridge at the General Court.
