    • "The Rev. Charles Fay, D.D., of Vermont, was born in Cambridge, Mass., July 21, 1808. He was graduated from Harvard College with honor 1829; in 1832 he became assistant teacher in the school established by Bishop Hopkins at Burlington, Vt., and was ordained Deacon in 1833. He organized St. Paul's Church, Vergennes, Vt., in 1838; he took charge of St John's, Highgate; in 1841, established a school for young ladies near Macon, Ga.; thence he removed in 1844 to Louisiana, and engaged in missionary work at Bayou Goula, then at New Orleans. In 1848, he was called to St Luke's, at St Albans, Vt. From 1857 to 1870, he was in charge of St. Paul's Church at Marquette, when he returned to Vermont, making his home at Grand Isle. He died in New York on the 6th of November, 1888, at the age of eighty." ["The Report on the Committee on Memorials of Deceased Members", citation details below.]
