  From the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography entry on his son Reginald Fitzurse, one of the murderers of Thomas Becket: "Like the other murderers Fitzurse had links with Becket beyond the mere fact of having been his man. These extended back to his father, Richard (the relationship is confirmed by the Fitzurse return to the inquest of knight service in 1166). Richard is found on one occasion witnessing a charter in the company of Osbert Huitdeniers, for whom Becket had worked as a clerk before his elevation to be archdeacon and chancellor."
