Notes - Her odd surname means "left-handed Roger." Many of her relatives appear to have used Platt or Platts as an alternative surname, after the area of Yorkshire the family was associated with. But she appears to have used Gawkroger or Gawroger during the periods of her life when she was unmarried. The exact identity of her parents, however, is unclear. Mary Lovering Holman (citation details below) says she was "possibly daughter of Abraham and Martha (Riley) Gawkroger, who was living in 1678."
