It's also striking how many of his ancestors are "d. Poland, early 1940s."

One of the interesting aspects of moving into middle age is getting to watch as the faces of the people you've known since they (and you) were young turn into various middle-aged faces you knew already. Ah, you say to yourself, that's where that variety of middle-aged face comes from. I don't know why this seems relevant to Goldchain's work, but it does.

I knew that Frieda Kalo's father was a Jewish German immigrant, but I'd like to learn more about the why and how.
